Metric:     As = 0.7854 * ⁡ ( D - 0.9382 *P ) 2
Where:As=tensile stress area [mm2]
D =nominal thread diameter [mm]
P =thread pitch [mm]

 

Imperial:    As = 0.7854 * ⁡ ( D - 0.9743 n ) 2
Where:As=tensile stress area [in2]
D =basic major diameter [in]
n =number of threads per inch [in-1]
